Complete computer control comprehensive sample handling and data reduction

Complete Computer Control

Computer control puts you in control of all key functions and simplifies routine operations. From data acquisition and analysis to instrument calibration and vacuum management, all functions are monitored and controlled from your laboratory workstation through a graphical software interface.

All hardware settings are under computer control; there are no knobs to adjust anywhere on the instrument. All critical settings are precisely reproducible and become part of the quality assurance information recorded with every sample spectrum. Through a hierarchy of operator access control the configuration and calibration of the instrument are secure.

Even the most complex operations are intuitive and simple to perform. The operator interface and the automatic vacuum management system help orchestrate sample loading and unloading in any spectrometer without jeopardizing data in neighboring spectrometers.

As many as 48 chambers in a single cabinet!

Comprehensive Sample Handling

Don't worry about tedious manual sequences with vacuum valves or manual control of detector bias. Merely instruct the Alpha Analyst that you are ready to load or unload samples and the system does the rest, automatically.

Every aspect of Alpha Analyst is focused on getting your samples through the system.

Wherever you have access to a computer workstation: in the sample prep area, in the counting room, or at your office desk, the network connectivity of Alpha Analyst allows you to begin preparing your sample lists from the very moment the unprocessed samples enter your facility. Alpha Analyst works the way you do; with batches of samples.

Our versatile and intuitive operator interface helps you to effectively manage your time as well as your samples and assures a smoother, more efficient run. Even periodic pulser checks and calibration checks can be handled as automated batch operations.

From a single screen you can view the status of every spectrometer in your Alpha Analyst and launch spectrometer operations.

The computer controlled vacuum management system automatically orchestrates all vent - pump - hold functions in every spectrometer throughout your instrument. All you have to do is load samples.

Once samples are loaded, a single command initiates the entire sequence of acquisition, data reduction and report generation, including the transfer of QA parameters.

Data Reduction

At Canberra, we recognize that different types of samples require different analysis strategies.

We understand that you need maximum flexibility during methods development and you also need simplicity and reliability for routine sample assays. For this reason, we don't apply one analysis approach for all applications. With Alpha Analyst, complete analysis sequences - from acquisition through reporting - can be defined and then executed automatically with a single command.

During data reviews, analysis can be performed manually, executing operations a step at a time in a fully interactive mode. You become an active partner with the Alpha Analyst, with hands-on control of every step of the analysis process. Use the interactive peak fit to expertly adjust regions and peaks and immediately view the results.

Accuracy First

Canberra's extensive experience in alpha spectroscopy has produced the most comprehensive and versatile data reduction algorithms in the industry. Of course, we support tracer and tracerless analysis as well as nuclide identification based on operator-selected libraries of alpha emitters. Our flexible software also provides several background subtraction and peak location strategies.

Our peak area algorithms provide sophisticated quantitative analysis of real world samples. Area calculations can be performed using regions of interest or by fitting peaks to the data. Our algorithms can correctly fit singlets as well as complicated multiplet peaks. Our precise nuclide identification algorithm can automatically perform an interference correction and weighted mean activity calculations. MDA reports verify that you have achieved the required detection limits.

And when the analysis is complete, the report you want is generated and QA parameters are automatically transferred to the database.

Fitting algorithms let you get quality results, even when peak shapes are not optimum. Results can be reviewed and adjusted with interactive peak fit.
