Modularity and Networking and the flexibility to count the samples you need when you need them

Our customers wanted cost-effective, easy-to-use alpha spectroscopy capability in an integrated package. The Alpha Analyst, with complete computer control, a bench-top configuration, and modular expandability is an outstanding performer. But there is more that we have to offer.

Network Ready

The Alpha Analyst is connected to its host computer through an Ethernet interface. Networking provides access to the Alpha Analyst for multiple operators and also gives you the ability to operate the instrument from a backup computer, if necessary. A networked workstation in the sample prep area lets your technicians build sample lists while they are preparing the samples, and the lists are ready when the samples enter the counting room.

Networking also provides you an easy route to expand the counting capacity of your laboratory to accommodate increasing sample loads. Simply connect another fully integrated instrument to the network, either a bench top or floor cabinet model, and you're ready to count even more samples. The Alpha Analyst design can accommodate from two to over 1200 individual alpha spec chambers on a single network.

Networking provides the flexibility required today and an easy way to expand tomorrow.

Modularity and Expandability

Twelve or fewer spectrometers can occupy a convenient bench-top instrument, but if you require more sampling capacity, the modular system makes it easy and cost effective to expand as your needs grow. Forty-eight spectrometers fill a standard nineteen inch floor cabinet. Yet, even an integrated instrument of this size requires only a single connection to vacuum and a single connection to a host computer. Modularity makes troubleshooting and maintenance easier too, so downtime is minimized.

Urgent Samples

How often have you had a high-priority sample but had to wait for a busy chamber to finish counting? Worse yet, how many times have you aborted a low-priority count in progress, just to get an urgent sample counted? With Alpha Analyst you can selectively interrupt a count in progress, completely analyze your urgent sample, then resume counting the interrupted sample without losing any data or disturbing any other sample assays in the instrument.

Optional Bar Code Scanner

Imagine having the tools that allow you to assign sample identifications, print bar code labels and prepare sample lists even before you have collected the samples - then have flawless sample tracking and chain of custody from collection, through preparation, into the assay and final report - without ever retyping a sample ID!

If you generate bar code ID labels for managing all the samples in your lab, our optional Bar Code scanner can accelerate the work of building sample lists. Because the hand held scanner is completely portable, you can take it anywhere - it is equally helpful in your sample prep lab and in your counting room. It can effectively eliminate errors associated with repeated hand entry of data.

In the counting room, you can use the bar code scanner, together with your labeled samples, to dynamically assign those samples to available chambers while loading them. Every spectrometer in an Alpha Analyst has a permanent bar code label bearing the spectrometer serial number mounted on the chamber. This serial number uniquely identifies each spectrometer, anywhere in your instrument, and the serial number, along with all the electronic settings of the spectrometer, is saved with the spectral data from each sample. The chain of custody is maintained and the history of every sample passing through the Alpha Analyst is easily retrieved.

It's easy and cost effective to expand your instrument, by adding dual alpha spectrometers, as your needs grow.
