Description |
The CANBERRA Portable Surveillance System is a complete audio/video surveillance system for those applications requiring unattended surveillance. It combines an industrial-grade camera and computer with a removeable 160 GB external hard drive, all built into a compact, portable case. The Portable Surveillance System may be used as a stand-alone system or multiple systems may be networked together via Ethernet. When networked, the systems trigger each other and peer-to-peer communication between cameras is established. This portable system records audio and video image data and stores the information on a removable 160 GB hard drive. Depending on the system configuration, the video and surveillance data may be downloaded directly from remote systems over the network or the removable hard drive may be connected to a laptop or PC and the files transferred to the computer. A digital review of the images may then be performed using CANBERRA’s review software. The system can best be thought of as a motion-activated digital VCR nestled inside a durable compact case. With inputs for camera and triggering devices, this audio/video surveillance system is capable of recording JPEG-format pictures at a speed of five frames per second with 640x480x24 color. Authentication and encryption of stored images is available. The Portable Surveillance System’s motion detection feature allows the system to detect motion directly from incoming images. When motion is detected, the system enters an alarm state and begins recording. This option eliminates the need for an external motion sensor. The recorded data is stored on an internal USB hard drive. The hard drive is easily removed from the unit when its memory capacity is reached and may be replaced with a new one, much like changing the tape in a VCR. Once the hard drive is removed, it can be connected directly to a PC where the data is imported for later review. Using review software, the user may perform a digital review of the recorded data. The user may search for each individual image by date or time or use the “jog” feature to review images at his or her own pace. |
