Description

The All in One Portable (ALIP) Camera System is an intelligent camera system for safeguards surveillance applications. Like the All in One System (ALIS), the ALIP camera system is an extensive application of the DCM-14 module and consists of the Digital Camera Module DCM-14 equipped with a PC-Card, a CCD camera, a DCMVT 100 monitor module, and a power supply for worldwide use. In addition, the ALIP system is equipped with a microprocessor- controlled battery pack for 10 Li-Ion batteries. The extended battery capacity makes it possible to operate the ALIP camera system for up to 100 days without mains connection. Unlike the ALIS, the DCMVT 100 in the ALIP system operates on a dedicated battery, which provides power for approximately 40 minutes of operation in the event of a mains loss. The batteries are charged automatically when external power is provided to the system. Even with the additional batteries, the ALIP camera system is only slightly taller (100 mm) (4 in.) than a standard ALIS. All components fit into a modified IAEA camera housing, which has a taller cover but utilizes the same base plate as the standard “blue box”.

The ALIP camera system enables the user to perform a quick set-up of the system as required for a specific surveillance application without additional equipment (no need for a PC). The set-up menus appear on the DCMVT 100 screen, and the different selections can be made using the built-in pointing device on the right-hand side of the module. The view of the CCD camera can also be controlled by the DCMVT 100 monitor when switched to “live video”.

NORMAL OPERATION

Normally the ALIP camera system is powered by mains. The DCM-14 module is equipped with a PC-Card to store images and related data. The required capacity of the PC-Card per inspection interval depends on the picture-taking interval set by the user (five seconds to a maximum of 18 hours). The image data compression algorithm implemented into the DCM-14 permits the storage of approximately 60 images per megabyte of PC-Card storage. The system offers a variety of operational modes, e.g., different parameters can be set for day and night surveillance or for working days and weekends. Another highlight is the delayed start feature. This feature allows the user to preset a date in the future to start the system without a second visit to the facility. In the event of a mains loss, the Lithium-Ion batteries guarantee a reliable operation without loss of surveillance.

CCD-CAMERA FEATURES

The CCD camera used in the ALIP camera system is a highly compact, low power camera manufactured by Sony, with high sensitivity and an auto iris lens (Sony® OEM product). A range of auto iris lenses and two different video standards (CCIR and EIA) make this camera very flexible. Because of its compactness and how easily the camera can be installed, the complete camera can be changed to adapt to a specific angle of view rather than changing the lens.
