Prerequisites:
1. SA-816-5.
2. SP-502-4 or equivalent gamma spectroscopy experience.

Purpose: This course discusses how to use the PROcount automated gamma counting system in the Genie Standard Users Interface (GSUI) and the Genie-ESP (GUI) modes of operation. To become familiar with the mechanics and setups which the PROcount software uses, the basic VMS and Genie application commands are also discussed.

Description:
This course is intended for students with little or no previous experience with the VMS PROcount or Genie spectroscopy system software. VMS PROcount is an optional product used by VMS Genie systems to fully automate a gamma spectroscopy system. The PROcount may be used "as-is", or may optionally be customized to accommodate site-specific needs. Students should be familiar with VMS operating system. Genie application software and PROcount system are the main topics of operation. The course will cover the standard PROcount menus, setups and operations, along with VMS DCL commands, Genie commands, spectral editors and the generation of analysis reports.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be familiar with all PROcount menu operations and be able to use DCL commands to move through the VMS PROcount Users directories, edit the command procedures for PROcount operation, invoke the spectral editors, calibrate the detector, analyze samples and generate reports.
