Description

The Cronos-4 and Cronos-11 Gamma Object/Tool Monitors are extremely sensitive instruments used to detect gamma radiation in/on articles such as waste bags, tools, briefcases, hard hats, and other miscellaneous objects. Measurements which ensure that objects have no detectable radioactivity can result in significant cost savings in waste processing and/or storage.

By taking all the best features of CANBERRA contamination monitors together with new technology and input from health physicists and radiation protection workers worldwide, CANBERRA has produced monitors that significantly outperform any previous monitors in its class.

All CANBERRA Contamination Monitors provide fast sensitive monitoring. Due to modularity of components and extensive diagnostics, direct reductions in consumable and workforce maintenance costs can be realized. Modern appearance and reliable PC-based operation with better tracking of contamination and faster, more thorough item throughput at boundary points can further enhance a facility’s contamination control program.

In addition, these monitors use the same “fast following” background trending and release-limit algorithms consistent with the CANBERRA Argos and GEM-5 family providing the best possible performance in stable or varying radiation fields.

The very low detection threshold is optimized by the quantity and sensitivity of the detectors, the thickness of the lead shielding and the measuring time, so that stringent user requirements can be met. The devices are rugged and reliable; and they are extremely easy to use, even for non-specialists.
