As a result of CANBERA’s extensive work in Custom
Design PIPS Detectors a number of these detectors,
called SMEPS Detectors, are available at modest cost
without a tooling charge. The Single Element PIPS
Detectors are subdivided as one dimensional position
sensitive detectors (resistive charge sharing over the
implanted junction) and standard rectangular elements.
The Multi-element PIPS Detectors are subdivided into
standard pad detectors, thin window pad detectors
(<50 nm) and two dimensional position sensitive
detectors. These detectors are generally mounted and
wire bonded to an epoxy board for the ease of use.
