Survey Instruments and Probes

Portable survey instruments and probes provide radiation workers with instant health physics information related to exposure from either contamination or external sources. For ALARA planning, it is critical to be able to avoid or monitor all high ambient radiation environments and to be able to identify contamination from any potential source.

CANBERRA offers multiple radiation detection solutions depending on the type of environment that must be monitored. The survey instruments are hand-held battery powered radiation detection devices. Many of the probes that are used in the CANBERRA survey instruments use smart probe technology. Smart probes are embedded with information that is specific to each probe. This information is automatically recognized by the survey meter making calibration parameters avaialble to the instrument and simplifying survey meter usage.
