Description
CANBERRA has been supplying quality products to the nuclear industry for over 50 years. Whether you require the ultimate in sensitivity, the best in operational economy, or both, CANBERRA provides solutions in the form of hand and foot monitors (flow or sealed proportional) designed by industry personnel for your needs. The Argos-4AB is for simultaneous alpha plus beta, the Argos-4B is for beta only, and the Argos-4BX is for enhanced X-ray response, ideal for medical applications.Overview
All CANBERRA Surface Contamination Monitors provide fast sensitive release monitoring with minimum maintenance costs. Modern appearance and reliable industrial PC-based operation guarantees employee acceptance and confidence, resulting in improved health physics programs, better tracking of contamination, and faster, more thorough, personnel throughput at boundary points. Excellent detector protection, modularity of components, and extensive diagnostics result in direct reductions in consumable and manpower maintenance costs. The detectors are of one size and the electronics and sensors are the same as those used in other CANBERRA surface contamination monitors (Argos-2, and Sirius-2, -4). This benefits you by reducing inventory costs and training requirements for service and support. All units use a sophisticated "fast following" background trending and release-limit algorithm to provide the best possible performance in stable or varying radiation fields. The color LCD display indicates proper positioning of the hands and feet, and if contaminated, which detector(s) is above the set alarm level and the level of contamination.
System setup and calibration is aided by an intuitive menu driven graphical interface using an industry standard full function ASCII keyboard. Automatic system self-diagnostics can signal monitor conditions to a remote location or to an (optional) LAN (local area network).
All "people" sensors are nonmechanical solid state types to reliably indicate proper positioning. Both digitized voice prompts and onscreen instructions aid in proper monitoring (various languages are available).
A "CONTAMINATED" result is shown on the color LCD display with voice reinforcement, and visually with an LED beside the detector.
A relay closure is available for remote signaling of alarm conditions ("Contaminated" and "Out of Service").
Radon Rejection:
Argos monitors include unique software to determine if the contamination
may be caused by radon, in which case the monitor will take
appropriate action as previously determined by the radiation protection
authority on site.
