Description
The CONDOR monitor is used for checking gamma radiation from waste bags, tools and other miscellaneous objects, with an extremely high sensitivity. Checks to ensure there is no radioactivity mean that considerable savings can be made in waste processing and storage.
The device includes a spacious measuring cavity in the form of a cube, accessed through a door; the plastic scintillator detectors located around the inner measuring volume have a large surface area, are highly sensitive and are protected from ambient background by lead shielding.
The amplification and processing electronics, the keyboard, the flat color display screen and the controls and indicator lights are located on top of the device.
The various stages of the automatic measuring cycle are displayed on the screen and an alarm sounds to warn the operator when a threshold has been exceeded. A trace can be kept of all checks made, due to the hard copy printout.
The very low detection threshold is optimized by the quantity and sensitivity of the detectors, the thickness of the lead shielding and the measuring time, so that user requirements can be met and increasingly stringent standards complied with.
The device is rugged and reliable; it is extremely easy-to,-use, even for non specialists.
