Description

The Sirius-4 range of monitors provides the optimum balance between cost and coverage for hand and foot applications. Monitoring the palms and backs of the hands in one operation provides rapid throughput, and fool proof operation. The unit is designed to monitor both sides of the hands in very close counting geometry for best sensitivity.

The Sirius-4B is optimized for beta detection with a sealed proportional detector.

The Sirius-4AB is optimized for alpha and beta detection with gas flow proportional detectors.

The Sirius-4BX is identical to Sirius-4B except that detectors are filled with xenon for higher efficiencies in detection of medical isotopes.

Options
Alpha Numeric Keyboard
Industry standard full function ASCII keyboard for setup, calibration and diagnostic purposes. At least one keyboard is required per facility, which can be attached inside the cabinet door.

Hand-Held Tool/Body Frisker
An integral frisker is available to enhance the monitoring capabilities. The frisker body incorporates an amber LED to indicate count rate, a beeper for audible indication and a red LED for alarm. The LCD displays the digital/analog ratemeter results plus the current background level, alarm point and highest count rate achieved during current frisk.

When not in use, the frisker continuously monitors background.

The Sirius-4B use a Model PC-126CH sealed proportional frisker (126 cm2, 4.5 mg/cm2) that has excellent response to beta/X-ray radiation. The Sirius-4AB uses a Model LFP-100DHP frisker (100 cm2, 0.8 mg/cm2) that has excellent response to alpha/beta radiation. Both friskers have retractable cables which provide up to 3 m (10 ft) of frisking range. The alpha frisker incorporates the gas flow in the same cable.

Local Area Network (LAN)
For automatic and remote communication plus real time monitoring of unit operation, a LAN hardware and software package is available. This includes a program which provides remote control of monitor setup, software upgrade, and service diagnostics plus bi-directional "chat" mode between on-site technician and the central computer (service administrator).

In addition, a software programs called C-HISTORY and C-MONITOR provides system status, diagnostics, usage, contaminated results, etc., including:

  • Automatic transmittal of database at user selected interval (typically, daily at midnight).
  • Appends new data to previous file.
  • Indicates monitor is unavailable (please wait) during transmission and automatically returns unit to service at completion.

User Badge/Bar Code Identification
User identification is available using standard readers to provide employee ID for the health physics database. Magnetic stripe card readers, bar code readers and keypad entry are available.
