Features

System Dosimetry Systems Tailored for Your Application The basic dosimetry system called DoseManager System consists of:
  • A few tens of individual DOSICARDs
  • A badge reader that connects contactless via two infrared couplers and the serial link to a PC
  • The Windows® based software DoseManager that allows in a simple and user-friendly way to program the DOSICARD with card data, personal data of the bearer and to set thresholds for alarms. It comprises a compiled ACCESS data base. The access to the DoseManager software is password protected and several intervention levels are possible. A personal computer with Windows 3.1 or higher is required

Description

The electronic personal dosimeter in credit-card format DOSICARD is the key element in a unique modular dosimetry system that can be adapted to your individual needs (see DOSICARD data sheet).

The DOSICARD can be used as a stand-alone personal dosimeter, used in small nuclear and medical laboratory with only a few people, used by service companies in the nuclear sector, in nuclear research centers, accelerators, nuclear power plants with several hundred employees, or it can even be used in nuclear reprocessing plants with more than a thousand employees and different control zones.

The DoseManager System is a small system designed for the dosimetry of up to 50 or 100 people.

The DOSICARDs can be linked via a badge reader to a PC. The DoseManager software is required to program the cards for data retrieval and for data base (ACCESS) operations.

The card system is conceived for large sophisticated systems and applications that involve control zone dosimetry. The access to these areas is controlled by access/exit badge readers that ask for an individual entry code, read the card data and activate/deactivate the measurements on entering/leaving the control zone. The data are transferred via Ethernet to a data bank computer that stores and administers all individual and all control zone data events. Complex network systems with several control zones and sub-zones can be created.

DoseManager System
The data stored in the DOSICARD are stored in parallel into the data base. From time to time the DOSICARD is read out and the measured dose values are transferred to and updated in the data base. The complete dosimetric history of the card holder can be examined, analyzed and even be graphically displayed.

The data stored in each DOSICARD and the corresponding entries in the DoseManager ACCESS data base are as follows:

  • Badge information: badge number, calibration date, battery change date, validity date, self test
  • Personal data of the bearer: ID number, name, company data, medical records, working authorization and validity, doses received before using the DOSICARD
  • Badge configuration data: "Permanent" mode or "Timer" mode, alarm thresholds on current, daily, monthly, or quarterly dose and doserate
  • Cumulative doses for monthly, quarterly, yearly, five years and life time, time-stamped exceedings of alarm thresholds, special events
Several badge reader can be used (one per PC) on different locations and store dose information on the same shared database on a network (path of the databade access in one "INI" file).

Two operating modes for the DOSICARD are possible:
  • "Permanent" mode: in the permanent mode the dose measurements are made continuously.
Direct Access Level: display of integrated dose within a user selectable time interval (START-STOP), instantaneous doserate and cumulative current day dose, display of alarm thresholds and the possibility to modify them, according to badge configuration.
Password Protected Access Level: display of complete dosimetric file with cumulative doses for monthly, quarterly, yearly and five year period.
This mode corresponds perfectly well with the needs of a workforce that intervenes at different sites. A monthly readout (quarterly readout minimum) of the acquired data is recommended for updating the database
  • "Timer" mode: the DOSICARD is active only in a preprogrammed daily time interval that corresponds usually to the working hours of the bearer. The autonomy of the DOSICARD is increased accordingly.
Direct Access Level: display of integrated dose within a user selectable time interval (START-STOP), instantaneous doserate, cumulative current day dose; display of alarm thresholds and the possibility to modify them according to badge configuration.
Password Protected Access Level: display of the complete dosimetric file with cumulative doses for a monthly, quarterly, yearly and a five year period
Card System
System Dosimetry Systems Tailored for Your Application The term card system is used for networked large complex dosimetry systems that allow for dosimetry and access control in control zones. The system can be adapted according to individual needs.
Generally speaking it consists of:
  • A large number of DOSICARDS
  • One or more badge readers and PCs that are linked via an Ethernet network
  • The Card software that operates in a similar manner to the DoseManager but with additional features which allow the following functions:
-Ability to operate in a network -Administration of several badge readers and transfer of data to a central data base -Statistical operations on the individual and collective data
  • Access/exit control zone readers and associated multiplexer that:
-Communicate with the badges via infrared couplers
-Allow for entry of a password via a keyboard thus allowing or inhibiting the access to a zone/sub-zone
  • Control zone access processing software for:
-Real time administering the access to the control zone/sub-zones and the presence of the badge bearers in the different zones -Central setting of alarm thresholds
The operation mode for the DOSICARD in this system environment is called "Zone" and it allows for:
  • Operation and integration of doses only when within the control zone
  • Activation of the DOSICARD only via the access reader, deactivation via the exit reader of the same zone
  • Programming the DOSICARD with the alarm thresholds from a distant central computer in the network
  • Visualization (if in direct access level) of:
-Integrated dose started when entering the control zone
-Instantaneous doserate -Cumulative dose of the current day working inside the control zone
  • Display (on the exit reader) of the integrated dose started when entering the control zone and cumulative doses for a daily/weekly/monthly period
