Description

The CANBERRA Model 554 Remote Parallel Interface (RPI) is a single-width NIM member of CANBERRA’s Instrument Control Bus (ICB) line of programmable front ends used to control AMX multiplexers, Sample Changers or similar digital devices. The RPI is programmed using your Genie-equipped workstation. Its ICB Address and Data Polarity are set up using on-board DIP settings.

The RPI provides up to 32 TTL outputs and 32 TTL compatible inputs. These outputs may be connected to up to four Model 8224 AMX modules to independently control up to 32 detector inputs.

In an optional configuration of the RPI, one Model 554 can be easily connected to operate with two Sample Changers, using an optional Breakout Cable.
