CANBERRA is the world’s leading supplier of special and custom nuclear measurement systems. Often, the unique needs of a given application dictate a custom solution – and when it does, you can call upon CANBERRA’s extensive applications engineering resources to construct a solution to the specific application problem.

First, check with CANBERRA’s applications to see if a special system is really necessary. We design our products for the widest range of applications and it is quite possible that a standard system exists that will do the job. Or, perhaps a different way to configure one of our standard systems would meet the requirements.

Our Standard Systems, as presented in this catalog are generally the best choice, where they meet the requirements. Standard systems have several advantages:

• The engineering and development is already done. Therefore the cost is lower and the delivery will be quicker.
• The performance is already established. We can specify and guarantee the performance – such as detection limits and count times – that will be obtained with the system.
• Other customers are using the standard systems and others will continue to use them. The designs are mature and we will continue to develop and improve the product to keep it current.

If your problem is unique, solving it may only require a minor modification of one of our standard systems. That way, you get most of the benefits of the standard systems, as noted above.

However, if these pathways do not lead to a solution for you, we are quite willing to do a custom solution for your problem. Much of the solution can be derived from the tools we use in building our other standard products, such as:

• Wide range of Ge, SiLi, and NaI detectors
• Full set of CANBERRA MCAs, and Spectroscopy Software
• Basic modules from other standard systems (PLC controls, shielding, etc.)
• Mathematical modeling of detection systems to predict the performance
• Extensive group of senior product development engineers
