Multi-Gamma Standards

Along with single gamma calibration standards, CANBERRA also offers multi-gamma standards: MGS-1 through MGS-6. All six have been calibrated to ±5% by measurement with a high-purity germanium detector for which peak efficiencies have been established using a NIST traceable standard. The standard geometry for MGS-1, 2, 3, and 4 is a 2-inch diameter (50mm) by 1/8-inch (3mm) plastic disk. MGS-5 and MGS-6 are available in a sealed 3 ounce canister or a sealed 500 ml Marinelli beaker. To simulate environmental soil or water samples, MGS-5 & 6 are fabricated in actual soil or water-simulating resin. The standard activity of the MGS-1 through MGS-6 is approximately 1µCi or less. Custom geometries are available upon request.

MGS-1: Eu-152, Eu-154, Eu-155 [2 " disk] Well suited for calibration and qc of germanium detectors at geometries at least 5 cm from the detector. (useful life = ~ 5-10 years)
MGS-2: Sb-125, Eu-155, Mn-54, Co-60 [2" disk] Also suited for calibration and qc of germanium detectors, produces a less complex spectrum than MGS-1. (useful life = ~ 5 years)
MGS-3: Cd-109, Sn-113, Cs-137, Mn-54, Co-60 [2" disk] Useful for calibration and QC of NaI and HPGe detectors. Energy range of 88 keV to 1332.5 keV. (useful life = ~ 2-3 years)
MGS-4: Eu-155, Co-57, Sn-113, Cs-137, Mn-54, Zn-65 [2" disk] The nuclides contained do not have significant true coincidence summing effects, therefore this is an excellent standard for calibration close to the detector endcap. Gamma ray energies from 60 keV to 1115 keV. (useful life = ~ 2-3 years)
MGS-5: Eu-155, Co-57, Sn-113, Cs-137, Mn-54, Zn-65, K-40 [3 oz canister or 500 ml Marinelli beaker] Designed for environmental samples such as soil, water, and vegetation. Available in soil matrix or water simulating resin matrix (minus K-40). Energy range: 60 keV-1460 keV. (useful life = ~ 2-3 years)
MGS-6: Eu-155, Sb-125, Mn-54, Zn-65, K-40 Ideal for environmental and bulk samples counted in canisters and beakers. Also available in soil matrix or water simulating resin matrix (minus K-40). Energy range: 60 keV-1460 keV. (useful life = ~ 5 years)
