OpenCDM Administrator's Course

Prerequisites: Experience with Chemistry Data Management and Databases is helpful but not required.

Purpose: The purpose of this course is to instruct the application administrator and analytical user on the configuration and use of the OpenCDM application.

Description:
This course includes an introduction to and the use of the OpenCDM software. Configuration of the OpenCDM application is one of the primary topics of the course. Configuration includes defining analyses, schedules, limits and the sampling configuration for the site. It also includes defining, saving, and automatic generation of stored reports and graphs. A discussion of the OpenCDM options that have been purchased by the site is also included.

  • Introduction to client-server computing and the architecture of the OpenCDM application
  • Types of data contained in OpenCDM and how they are used
  • Management of users and functionality authorization
  • Defining OpenCDM general site parameters
  • Application administration - Configuring the application for the site
  • Entering and editing the different types of data stored in OpenCDM
  • The data approval function
  • Report generation - Saving and using stored criteria. Automatic report generation
  • Working with graphics - Designing, displaying, graphs
  • Defining and scheduling batch plots
  • Using the predictive trending function
  • The OpenCDM event scheduler
  • Overview of the Oracle relational database architecture
