SU-479-4 Abacos 2000 System Operations

Prerequisites:

This training course is intended for students who have some prior knowledge of basic gamma spectroscopy principles, and (preferably) some familiarity with the basic operations of Canberra's Genie 2000 software. Prior experience with the Certificate File editor, Nuclide Library editor, Analysis Sequence files, and other features of the basic Genie 2000 software is strongly recommended.

Purpose:

The purpose of this course is to introduce the basic features of Canberra's S534 Abacos-2000 software as applied to typical in vivo counting measurements. Students will also be introduced to additional Canberra software packages (including the S537 Lung Counting option, if appropriate) and specialized hardware components that are typically integrated with the Abacos-2000 software.

Description:

This course is normally presented during a period of four (4) consecutive days, totaling approximately 30 hours of instruction time. (This course can be adapted for shorter presentation times, if prior arrangements are made with the Canberra Training Department.) When this course is presented at a customer site, students should have access to one or more integrated and calibrated Abacos-2000 in vivo counting systems, and the course content will emphasize the specific type of system(s) used at that site. When presented at Canberra's Meriden, CT training facility, students will have access to computers and gamma detection hardware that can be used to simulate a generic Abacos-2000 counting system.
