SU-474-4 Basic ISOCS Measurements

Prerequisites:

This training course is intended for students who have prior knowledge of basic gamma spectroscopy principles, and (preferably) some prior experience with the basic operations of Canberra’s Genie-2000 software. Successful application of ISOCS requires proper use of the “Geometry Composer”, Nuclide Library editor, Analysis Sequence files, and other features of Genie-2000. Therefore, some familiarity with these Genie-2000 software features is strongly recommended.

Purpose:

The primary purpose of this course is to introduce the basic features of Canberra’s S573 ISOCS Efficiency Calibration Software, and to describe typical uses of ISOCS for common in situ gamma spectroscopy measurement applications. Students will also be introduced to additional Canberra software packages and specialized hardware components that are typically integrated with the ISOCS software.

Description:

This course is normally presented during a period of four (4) consecutive days, totaling approximately 30 hours of instruction time. (This course can be adapted for shorter presentation times, if prior arrangements are made with the Canberra Training Department.) When this course is presented at a customer site, students should have access to an ISOCS-characterized detector and all other integrated system components required for ISOCS measurements. When presented at Canberra’s Meriden, CT training facility, students will have access to computers and gamma detection hardware that can be used to adequately demonstrate the complete ISOCS measurement process.
