iR7040 Intelligent Ratemeter

iR7040 Intelligent Ratemeter

Description

CANBERRA's SafePoint iR7040 intelligent, wall-mounted ratemeter is a digital ratemeter ideal for use in a variety of inplant area and process monitoring applications. The configurable and versatile design of the iR7040 eliminates the need for costly customization and minimizes maintenance requirements, thus saving time, expense and radiation exposure for users. The iR7040 can be configured to operate autonomously, or as part of an integrated monitoring system. This versatile unit is designed to power and control up to four CANBERRA radiation detectors of any style or application, making it suitable for use in Nuclear Power Plants, Research Reactors, Fuel Cycle Facilities and other facilities that can benefit from advanced radiation monitoring.

The ratemeter connects with inputs such as pressure, temperature, and flowrate used to generate corrected data such as total dose, activity concentration, filter activity loading, and activity discharge rates. The iR7040 will support any reporting requirement and radiation or activity unit of measure.

The iR7040 has been designed to simplify operation and maintenance for the user. Its large industrial color touch-screen interface is readable under adverse lighting conditions and provides the user with enhanced field functionality. The detachable termination panel of the iR7040 can be easily separated from the ratemeter for convenient interconnection to plant systems as well as quick and easy ratemeter exchange.

The iR7040 ratemeter logs all data; Alarms, Probe outputs, Probe parameters, conditioned outputs, source check responses, and out-of-parameter conditions to its internal histogram for plotting and enhanced performance monitoring. Performance and reliability are assured through the ratemeter's rigorous self test functionality.

The ratemeter serial number and manufacturing date are burned-in at the time of manufacture. All measurements and log data are tagged with it. This feature makes supporting the traceability of calibrations, testing, performance plotting, measurements and trending an automatic affair. Configuration management and Maintenance rule requirements become much easier when the iR7040 is used.

The iR Ratemeter supports an enhanced Source check functionality, allowing the user to manually or automatically perform source checks of attached probes and detectors with that capability. The source check results can be plotted for long term performance and stability verification. Individual tests can also be compared to the expected value to alarm on out of specification responses.

The iR7040 also offers greatly simplified calibration routines and software/database tools. Access to Calibration statistics is readily available, and the system tracks calibration sources, activity (original and decay corrected to time of test). Automated Chi-Square functionality is also available.

GP Series - Geiger Mueller Detectors

GP Series - Geiger Mueller Detectors

Description

A pair of rugged halogen-quenched GM detectors serves as the basic detection elements in the GP Series detectors used for wide range gamma radiation measurement. The GM detectors operate under CANBERRA's unique Time-to-Count technique which removes many of the limitations associated with the use of GM detectors operated in conventional mode.

In addition, the GP Series of detectors are SMART probes, which retain probe information in nonvolatile memory. When calibrated, data such as probe calibration constants and identifying information are stored and verified in the EEPROM memory in the probe circuitry. This arrangement allows the CANBERRA GP Series detectors to be interchangeable.

The GP Series of detectors are "maintenance free" in design and require no routine servicing or preventive maintenance.

The GP100C/GP100C2 and GP100CS/GP100C2S detectors have an internally mounted (nominal) 3.7 kBq (0.1 µCi) 90Sr Check Source Assembly.

The GP100M and GP100MS are used in conjunction with a preamplifier, PA100M. This arrangement allows components that are susceptible to damage by extended exposure to radiation to be placed up to 200 feet away from the detectors.

The GP Series can be connected to multifunction control and display unit such as iR7040, ADM606, ADM606M and ADM616.

ADM606M Portable Multifunction Ratemeter/Scaler

ADM606M Portable Multifunction Ratemeter/Scaler

Description

Model ADM606M ten decade radiation monitor is both a ratemeter and a scaler. The ADM606M supports the CANBERRA family of "SMART" detectors for monitoring all types of radiation including alpha, beta, gamma, x-ray, and neutron.

CANBERRA's Model ADM606M is microprocessor-based with an auto-ranging digital/analog display that provides both high accuracy and trending of results. This multi-detector capability allows it to be configured as an area, process or effluent monitoring system. Using "SMART" detectors allows the ADM606M to automatically interrogate the probe and determine probe type and the relative operation and calibration constants. The readout display units are automatically adjusted to correspond to the probe type. The ADM606M is capable of utilizing simultaneous inputs from up to three separate "SMART" detectors.

Neutron Detectors - NP Series

Neutron Detectors - NP Series

Description

The NP Series provides customers with the capability of detecting slow and fast neutrons and measurement of tissue equivalent dose rate of the neutron field. The detectors contain a proportional counter which produces pulses resulting from neutron interactions within it. The probes contain components which moderate and attenuate neutrons so that the net incident flux at the proportional counter is a thermal and low epithermal flux representative of the tissue equivalent dose rate and the neutron field.

The neutron probe also contains a Circuit Card Assembly (CCA), Amplifier and Logic, and a CCA High Voltage supply.

The NP Series of detectors are SMART probes, which retain probe information in non-volatile memory. When calibrated, data such as probe calibration constants and identifying information are stored and verified in the EEPROM memory in the probe circuitry. This arrangement allows the CANBERRA NP Series detectors to be interchangeable.

The NP Series of detectors are "maintenance free" in design and require no routine servicing or preventive maintenance.

The NP Series can be connected to multifunction control and display units such as ADM606M.

Quality

The NP Series detectors are designed and manufactured under a quality system in compliance with the following standards and requirements:

  • ISO 9001
  • 10CFR21
  • 10CFR50, Appendix "B"

Scintillation Detectors - MD Series

Scintillation Detectors - MD Series

Description

The MD Series of standard scintillation detectors provides customers with the capability of measuring gamma and beta emitting radionuclide for a wide variety of applications. The detectors consist of one or two scintillators (gamma or beta) optically coupled to a photomultiplier (PM) tube via a Lucite light pipe. A reference Light Emitting Diode (LED) and a temperature sensor are imbedded in the Lucite pipe.

These detectors operate with a unique gain stabilization circuitry for temperature-compensated drift-free operation, resulting in improved accuracy and extended calibration cycles.

The MD455E, MD55EB1, MD55EV1, MD55EV2 and MD55EV5 are capable of measuring extended operating ranges of up to 11 decades of linear activity from environmental effluent release levels to accident range.

The MD Series detectors operate in conjunction with a preamplifier, Model PA300E. This unit contains the circuitry that compares the LED pulses with a reference to provide closed loop feedback for automatic gain compensation. The preamplifier amplifies the detector output signal and generates shaped digital pulses to the remotely located ratemeter. When configured to work with MD455 Series Beta-Gamma detectors, the PA300E also separates pulses of interest for gamma and beta radiation from the composite signal, by pulse shape discrimination.

The MD Series can be connected to multifunction control and display unit such as ADM600, ADM606, ADM606M, ADM616, and ADM616S.
