S562V15
V1.4.5 resolved SPR A3097962 - V1.4.x Inspector-1000 units upgraded or supplied new with V1.4.3 or V1.4.4 Inspector software will report no Dose readings when a new probe is attached and identified by the unit. V1.4.4 resolved SPR A10745174 (PPR 443) - A change to the dose rate calculation algorithm that was introduced in V1.4.3 resulted in over-reporting of dose rate. The algorithm has been reverted back to that of pre-V1.4.3 releases. V1.4.3 resolved SPR D9734874 (PPR 204) - New OS image and application to address lock-ups during boot. COM registrations are now built into the image, eliminating a registration failure which caused the problem. For additional information please refer to release notes.

Introduction Thank you for purchasing the InSpector 1000 Digital Handheld MCA. This CD contains the following software and documentation: The InSpector 1000 software, version 1.5. Since each new InSpector comes with its software already installed, there should be no need to reinstall it on a new InSpector unless you have received this CD as an update. The InSpector 1000 Maintenance utility program, which runs on the host PC. This program configures the InSpector, and provides an easy way of moving files between the PC and InSpector. This program is started via Start --> Programs --> Genie 2000 --> InSpector 1000 --> Maintenance. The InSpector 1000 User’s Manual, in Adobe Acrobat (PDF) format. Acrobat Reader v5 or higher is required to view this document; v6 or newer preferred. Installation The software on this CD requires Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4 or Windows XP. Windows Vista is not supported at this time. Prior to installing the InSpector 1000 software on your PC, please note that Genie™ 2000 (V3.2.1 or higher is recommended and is included with all Inspector 1000’s purchased) and Microsoft ActiveSync (V4.2) must already have been installed. Genie 2000 is contained on a separate CD. The “Worldwide English” version of ActiveSync V4.2 is contained on the InSpector 1000 CD and can be installed via a button on the installation program; ActiveSync can also be downloaded from the Microsoft Web site, if desired. This software update contains two parts: one that updates the InSpector 1000 Operating System (OS), and a second that updates the InSpector 1000 application files. Both must be installed on all versions except V1.4.3-5 where the operating system was previously updated. To update the OS, install Version 1.5 on the PC. Then connect the unit to the PC using the USB connection. Once the ActiveSync connection is established, execute OSUpdate.exe from the \Canberra\Inspector1000\Install directory. The software will then prompt for permission to install the newer OS. To update the application software, ensure that ActiveSync is still connected, and execute Setup.exe from the \Canberra\Inspector1000\Install directory. Follow the prompts; the software will notify you when the update is complete. Important Note: The “Platform 2” model of the InSpector 1000 is required for version 1.4.5. OSUpdate.exe and Setup.exe will not perform an update on Platform 1 units. Important Note: Any update of the InSpector 1000 Operating System or Application Software must be done using the unit’s AC power adapter. Depending on the PC, the InSpector 1000 hardware, and the quality of the USB connection the OS update process can take twenty minutes or more. Once the OS download is started, the PC should not be disturbed. If OSUpdate.exe loses the PC’s focus its progress bar could fail to update, giving the impression the process is hung or is inactive. Important Note: V1.4.3, V1.4.4 or V1.4.5 units where probes have been attached and identified, must follow the procedure shown below to utilize the correct version probe definition files (PFD) supplied with V1.5 to properly report Dose. This procedure should be performed after installing V1.5 and before attaching any probes to the unit. 1. Remove any probes attached to the Inspector-1000. 2. Using Active Sync , Select Explore after selecting "No" to Selecting a Partnership.
3. Navigate to the \GENIECE\HDWFILES folder and delete all folders except the "NOPROBE" Folder. Ensure the "NOPROBE" folder is the only remaining folder in this path.
The probe folders shown are created using the serial number of the probe. Your folders will not match those shown in the above figure. 4. Close Explore, reattach all probes. Recalibration will be required. Limitations: The InSpector 1000 does not currently support automatic changing of the instrument’s time due to Daylight Savings Time. In the Date/Time Setup dialog, there is a checkbox for DST support; setting this checkbox has no effect. Use Date/Time Setup to manually set the time forward or back as appropriate. The InSpector may lock up or be unable to restore a USB connection if its USB cable is connected to a PC when the PC is turned off. If this happens, disconnect the USB cable, restart the PC and the InSpector, and then reconnect the cable. To avoid the problem, simply disconnect the USB cable before turning the PC off.
