CANBERRA 2008 Users' Group Meeting Post-Event Recap

Panel Discussion at the 2008 CANBERRA Users' Group Meeting - "What the Nuclear Renaissance Means for Today" CANBERRA held its 43rd Users’ Group Meeting at the Chateau Elan Resort, in Braselton, GA, June 23 - 27, 2008. The meeting was attended by over 150 scientists, managers, technicians, and other users of CANBERRA nuclear measurement equipment. CANBERRA Users’ Group Meetings are held annually to facilitate a technical and application information exchange between CANBERRA and the end user community.

The program began with two days of technical training courses presented by the CANBERRA Training and Technical Services department. The courses covered a wide variety of applications in addition to specific operation of CANBERRA equipment and systems.

"Keynote Speaker, Richard Myer presents his paper, "What We've Learned Since the 2005 Energy Policy Act"On Tuesday evening we hosted a very well attended, luau-themed welcome reception for the meeting participants. The full meeting began Wednesday morning with a welcome address and opening remarks from Mr. Frederic Van Heems, President of CANBERRA, followed by our keynote speaker Richard Myers, VP of Policy Development at NEI. This was then followed by several speakers who covered topics related to our industry.

Wednesday afternoon featured a panel discussion on the true meaning of the nuclear renaissance featuring our keynote speaker and five other distinguished representatives from the nuclear industry. This was followed by a series of breakout sessions conducted by CANBERRA representatives. Our demo room was opened on Wednesday evening where a networking reception and product demonstrations took place. Participants were also able to view CANBERRA hardware and software demonstrations on Friday morning in the demo room.

Breakout Sessions held during the 2008 CANBERRA Users' Group MeetingOn Thursday morning we enjoyed a series of technical sessions presented by CANBERRA end-users, followed by a series of product/application specific breakout sessions in the afternoon. Thursday evening’s closing dinner was held at Chateau Elan.

This year’s meeting had the highest attendance in CANBERRA’s history. We look forward to building on this success next year!
